Leeds United have confirmed the arrival of Tyler Adams on a four-year contract from German club RB Leipzig – and Lloyd Sam has delivered an instant verdict on the transfer, which is believed to have cost £20million.
Adams, 23, immediately arrives at Elland Road just two days after the Whites announced the exit of Kalvin Phillips. The USA star is believed to be seen as a replacement for the Euro 2020 finalist. He has a contract until 2026.
It sees Leeds make their fifth summer signing after moves for Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca and Darko Gyabi. Luis Sinisterra is expected to be the next incoming arrival from Dutch Eredivisie side Feyenoord.

- Robin Koch an unsung hero at right-back in Leeds’ final games of 21/22
Of course, Adams is the third of those five signings to form a reunion with Leeds boss Jesse Marsch. He played under the Leeds gaffer briefly at Leipzig, but more so at MLS outfit New York Red Bulls.
It is a club where Adams came through at the same time ex-Leeds winger Sam was playing in the first team. Now, Adams has gone the opposite way, from New York to Yorkshire, and Sam has posted on Twitter.
Leeds have confirmed Adams arrival: Sam has delivered verdict
For all parties, it is a good move. Leipzig get a decent fee and a profit on the exit of Adams. Leeds spend a small-ish figure for a midfielder that is vastly experienced – at club and international level- but still only 23.
In terms of Adams, he gets to join a side where he knows the manager and one of the players well – in Aaronson, a USA teammate. He will also be first choice for a Premier League side. A move is perfect, for all involved.
