Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has revealed to AS what Mauricio Pochettino told the players when he became the manager back in 2014.

Pochettino was appointed the Tottenham manager in the summer of 2014 following his departure from Premier League rivals Southampton at the end of the 2013-14 season.

The Argentine boss has take Spurs to a whole new level, with the team now not only challenging for the Premier League title, but also aiming to progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Lloris, who is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has been at Tottenham since the summer of 2012 when he joined from Lyon for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £11.8 million, has outlined how Pochettino won him and his teammates over.

“Yes, at that moment we were far away from the rest of the English sides in terms of winning the Premier League,” the France international goalkeeper told AS when asked whether the start with Pochettino was difficult.

“I remember him saying: ‘Give me one year’. From the beginning, I felt and shared the energy and the philosophy of his work.”

Pochettino is a brilliant manager, and it seems that the players have bought his ideas and have done as instructed.

Tottenham have a very strong squad, and the former Southampton boss is getting the best out of his players.
