The Tottenham Hotspur backup striker could get a chance to impress against Swansea.
After all the plaudits he has received recently, Harry Kane may not be available for Tottenham Hotspur’s first game of 2018 when they face Swansea City away on Tuesday.
Kane, who scored hat-tricks in the victories against Southampton and Burnley, is doubtful for the away game against Swansea due to illness, as reported by Sky Sports.
If Kane is unavailable then Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has the option of deploying Son Heung-min up front, but instead Fernando Llorente should be given the opportunity to lead the line against his former club.
Llorente has scored just once in 19 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions this season and there have been suggestions that the club are looking to recall Vincent Janssen, who has spent the first half of the season on loan at Fenerbahce, as reported by Fanatik.
If he was to start against Swansea then Llorente would have a final chance to show Tottenham that he can be an adequate backup option to Kane and that Janssen doesn’t have to be recalled.
Llorente deserves a last opportunity to prove his credentials, and, up against Swansea, he may well be able to seize his chance.
