Llorente claims no offers to leave Tottenham, will stay despite bit-part role under Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente has outlined his intentions to stay.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente has told Mundo Deportivo that he has no offers to leave the club, nor does he have any intention of moving on this summer.

After seeing Vincent Janssen struggle in the 2016-17 season, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was back in the market for another striker last summer, and swooped on deadline day in August.

With the clock ticking towards the transfer deadline, Pochettino landed the signature of giant Spaniard Llorente, pouncing after he scored 15 goals in his first season with Swansea City.

Formerly of Athletic Bilbao, Juventus and Sevilla, Llorente had impressed in the Premier League but has failed to settle with Tottenham, recording a disappointing first campaign under Pochettino.

The 33-year-old started just 10 games in all competitions and just once in the Premier League, scoring a total of five goals as he failed to prove that he could be the goalscorer Tottenham wanted to ease the pressure on Harry Kane.

With Son Heung-min even preferred as as striker towards the end of the season, many have wondered whether Llorente will move on to play first-team football elsewhere, with recent speculation suggesting as much.

El Gol Digital in Spain recently reported that Alaves and Real Valladolid are keen to lure Llorente back to his homeland after a frustrating year, but that doesn’t seem to be on the cards.

Llorente has told Mundo Deportivo that he doesn’t have offers from any teams in Spain, or anywhere else for that matter, and is happy to stay with Tottenham in the Premier League as he has another year left on his deal.

“I do not have offers from any club in Spain nor from anywhere else and I will continue at Tottenham, where I have one more year on my contract,” said Llorente. “I am very happy at Tottenham.”

“It is already my second year in England, the first was in Wales at Swansea and the truth is that it is a very positive experience. Learning English, and little by little I have adapted. I am very happy in the Premier League, it is a spectacular league, with an impressive atmosphere and I am very happy to be living this experience,” he added.
