For the first time in three years at Newcastle and Liverpool, Georginio Wijnaldum scored away from home.

Newcastle United fans reacted with a mixture of shock and pride as former player Georginio Wijnaldum finally scored away from home.
Wijnaldum picked the perfect time to do it too, netting for Liverpool away at Roma in the Champions League semi-final.
This is Wijnaldum’s third season in English football and his failure to score away has been a real anomaly.
He scored 11 goals for Newcastle in 2015/16 all at St James’ Park and until last night all eight of his goals for Liverpool came at Anfield.

Newcastle fans warned Liverpool supporters at the time he was transferred about his dramatic home and away splits, which became a detriment in their fight against relegation.
At Liverpool he has become a key player for the Reds especially with injuries to Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Last night’s goal was an opportunistic header from close range and it helped put Liverpool in a commanding position.
Wijnaldum is largely remembered fondly at Newcastle despite his exit coming at a tough time for the club, but his progress with Liverpool shows he was too good to spend last season playing in the Championship.
Here is a look at how Newcastle fans reacted to his goal…
