The Liverpool star has been bang in form for club and country.
Liverpool attacker Xherdan Shaqiri has told Blick that he doesn’t concern himself with what Gary Neville thinks about him.
Neville called the Reds man ‘unprofessional’ during the summer and slammed some of his performances for Switzerland during the World Cup.
Shaqiri, a £13 million signing from Stoke in the summer, responded by sending the Sky Sports a pundit a signed Liverpool shirt.
The 27-year-old inspired his country to a brilliant 5-2 win over Belgium on Sunday, after being 2-0 behind.
Asked by Swiss outlet Blick whether he’d share a coffee with the former Manchester United defender, he said: “Not at all. I do not care what he says. I do not care if he says now that I’m playing hard.
“Many have ridiculed after the transfer that Liverpool is too big for me. But I was always calm, too, when I got little playing time at the beginning.”
Shaqiri has certainly silenced many of his critics lately.
In addition to his heroics for Switzerland, the former Bayern Munich and Basel star is also doing the business for Liverpool, scoring in their 2-0 win over Fulham prior to the international break for his second goal in his last three games.
Overall, Shaqiri has two goals and two assists in three Premier League starts for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Even though he isn’t playing regularly every single week, £13 million is an absolute bargain in this day and age and even Neville would find it hard to deny that.
