Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Raheem Sterling of Manchester City are two of the best players in the Premier League.

Voting rules prevent players from backing their own teammates, and Liverpool ace Van Dijk – who himself is likely to get a lot of votes from his peers for the prestigious individual accolade – has cast his vote in favour of Sterling.
The 27-year-old Netherlands international has also explained why he voted for the 24-year-old England international – who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder and was on the books of Liverpool from 2010 until 2015 before leaving for Premier League rivals City.
Van Dijk told The Guardian: “I voted for Raheem Sterling. I did what I thought and I thought he deserves it. He’s had a fantastic season.
“I think I could have voted for Bernardo Silva as well and another couple of players from Manchester City.
“But I am just being honest. I think he has improved a lot as a player. We will see if he wins it.”

Stats
Sterling is one of the best players in the Premier League, and the former Liverpool youngster has improved a lot this season.
According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old has made 25 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for City so far this season, scoring 15 goals and providing nine assists in the process.
