Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has become the latest footballer to make a joke about Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.

The 24-year-old striker was beaten to the PFA Player of the Year award on Sunday by Liverpool sensation Mo Salah, who has 31 goals in the Premier League this season – five more than the Tottenham hitman.

As a result, Salah reacted to the success on Twitter by posting a photo of himself holding the trophy, prompting Mignolet to joke that Kane would try and claim the trophy as his own.

Earlier this month, the Spurs star was credited with the Lilywhites’ second goal in the 2-1 win at Stoke City, despite video evidence indicating that he never touched it.

It was an attempt by Kane to keep pace with Salah in the hunt for the Premier League’s Golden Boot.

Mignolet has lost his spot as Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper to the brilliant Loris Karius this year, and fans of the North London club were quick to bite back at the Belgian.
