Liverpool did well to tie down Mohamed Salah before Real Madrid’s spending spree.

Liverpool’s announcement last week that Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract extension with a pay rise looked like sensible business at the time.
Now it looks like a stroke of absolute genius.
This is due to reported suitors Real Madrid suddenly netting a £99.2 million transfer windfall from selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, BBC Sport report.
The blockbuster transfer leaves Real Madrid on the prowl for new ‘Galacticos’, with money to spend and a demanding fanbase to satisfy.
Liverpool’s move to give Salah a contract extension effectively takes him off the market already.
While the Coutinho and Barcelona situation shows clearly that a contract has no guarantee a player will see it out, there is next to no chance that Salah will leave Liverpool in the same summer he signed an extension.

The Egyptian may not have wanted to go and play alongside Sergio Ramos in any case, but Real were widely reported to have wanted to try and convince him.
Spanish outlet Don Balonreported earlier this summer that Real were keen on Salah.
Egyptian website King Fut reported Real’s interest as far back as January.
At least in acting when they did, pre-emptively, Liverpool have spared themselves more speculation and a big distraction ahead of the upcoming season.
