Liverpool winger Ryan Kent ripped it up in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers this season and now he could potentially be heading to Aston Villa in the summer.

The Scottish Sun are reporting that Rangers have been dealt a blow in their dreams to sign Kent for a second loan spell as Villa have joined the race to sign the £10 million ace.

It is said that the Liverpool prospect is looking to play at a high level in England next season and Villa manager Smith is willing to buy the Scottish PFA Young Player of the Year whether they earn promotion to the Premier League or not.

At 22-years-old, Kent no doubt still has a lot ahead of him, but the talked about fee of £10 million is too much for the Midlands club and they should steer clear of the player.

Whilst Kent was successful at Rangers and he grew under the stewardship of Steven Gerrard, he is yet to prove his worth in England, whether it be in the Premier League or the Championship.

Kent is a direct winger, and from a style of play perspective, he would suit Villa’s play, but his unsuccessful loan spell at Bristol City last season is something which wouldn’t lift the hopes of the Villa Park faithful, nor would the mentioned price tag.

There is no doubt that Rangers supporters would love to see Kent back in their colours next term as they bid to win back the Scottish Premiership title from their rivals.

As for Villa, they should opt out against their reported move for Liverpool’s academy product, who has scored three goals and supplied five assists in 53 Championship games [transfermarkt].

If the price tag were to be lowered then perhaps Villa should consider a move for the player, but saying that if they are in the Premier League then there will be plenty more fish in the sea to look at.
