Liverpool have a lot of exciting young players coming through the ranks but over the years, time and again, one name has come up when talk turns to their most skillful academy product.

That name was Ryan Kent, and the 20-year-old is expected to become a first-team regular at Anfield in due course.

For now though, Kent is continuing his development on loan at Bundesliga side SC Freiburg, so how is the left winger getting on?

In truth he is making steady progress without pulling up trees, getting the minutes Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will have hoped for but yet to start in three Bundesliga outings.

Kent has come off the bench against Bayer Leverkusen, Hannover and Werder Bremen, racking up 87 minutes in the process, and the fact that he was called on at half time against Leverkusen, with Freiburg 3-0 down and floundering speaks volumes. Kent’s temporary club were far better after the interval even if they ultimately lost 4-0.

Kent excelled on loan at Championship side Barnsley and this is certainly a step up, but at least he is getting opportunities, albeit from the bench, and the experience will be invaluable as he bids to ultimately make it back at Liverpool.
