Liverpool’s Mo Salah has told BT Sport that he wants Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane to start the Champions League final.

Liverpool and Spurs are set to meet in Madrid tomorrow, when European football’s biggest prize will be on offer.

It is not yet known whether Kane will be given the nod to start for Tottenham in the contest.

But Salah is hoping that Spurs do put Kane in their starting line-up.

“I prefer if he plays,” Salah said. “All of us would be ready to play.

“It’s a good competition when you play against the top of the game. Harry Kane is a good player and he’s proved that many years. He’s the top scorer and for English football. It’s something good to push me more.”

Mohamed Salah of Liverpool looks on during the Premier League match between Chelsea and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on May 6, 2018 in London, England.

Kane missed the last month of the season with injury, which leaves question marks over his match sharpness.

The England international has insisted that he is fit to start for Tottenham, but Pochettino faces a huge team selection decision.

If Kane does start for Spurs it seems likely that one of Heung-Min Son, Lucas Moura, Dele Alli or Christian Eriksen will have to be left on the substitutes’ bench.

The Daily Mail have suggested that Pochettino will make his final decision about whether Kane will feature later today.
