Manchester United forward Michael Owen said he found it ‘surprising’ that Suarez didn’t take a penalty. Rival fans had some more harsh words to say…
Luis Suarez did not step up as one of Liverpool’s five spot-kick takers when the Carling Cup Final went to penalties yesterday, when many expected he would.
Here is what Michael Owen tweeted: “Surprising Suarez never took a pen. thought he would take the responsibility.”
And this is what the fans are saying…
@OSullivanMUFC: Also Suarez not taking a penalty, what a coward. Add that to the list of racism, lying, diving.
@jimshelley17: Good to see Suarez step up for the penalty shoot out. Coward.
@joekeith3: Suarez not taking a penalty, There’s no defending that. #coward
@paulrown: add a coward to the list of things Suarez is! #starplayerdidnttakeapen
@dempz08: Suarez didn’t take a peno. Coward!!
@therealkunz: suarez is a pipe and a coward.. not man enough to play penalties, there should take his medal away.
@lordkyte: Also, pathetic if your strikers don’t put their hand up to take a penalty. Johnson did, where was Suarez? #coward #bottler
@AdamCrafton_: People calling Suarez a coward for not taking a pen,but in his culture, a striker not taking a penalty is considered the bravest of actions
