What a signing Luis Diaz has been at Liverpool.

In January, the Reds hijacked Tottenham Hotspur’s bid to sign the Colombia international and wound up bringing him to Anfield in a £49 million deal.

He’s only been a Liverpool player for nine months or so but he looks to have been playing under Jurgen Klopp for a lot longer.

That’s because the former Porto winger has enjoyed an instant impact on Merseyside, even forcing Klopp to use Sadio Mane as a number nine for the second half of last season because Diaz, as a left-sided attacker, was undroppable.

However, he isn’t perfect.

The 25-year-old played for Colombia in a friendly win over Mexico in California on Tuesday night.

Alexis Vega fired Mexico into the lead after only six minutes and it came as a result of a mistake from the Liverpool attacker, who conceded the sloppy penalty which led to the opener.

It was a poor, silly foul from Diaz and El Tiempo were the ones who labelled it a ‘giant error’.

Despite that mistake, the South American actually went to enjoy an excellent performance all things considered as his country recovered from a two-goal deficit to win 3-2.

Diaz flew back to Liverpool after the game and Klopp will want him as refreshed as possible ahead of Saturday, when Brighton & Hove Albion visit Anfield.
