Liverpool were minutes away from a perfect night in Belgium.

It was almost a perfect night for Liverpool and their manager Jurgen Klopp.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain boosted his confidence after a low-profile return to fitness this season by scoring two wonderful goals in the Reds’ convincing win away to Genk in the Champions League.

Not only that, but Mo Salah sharpened his sword ahead of Sunday’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur by netting scoring Liverpool’s fourth of the night, after Sadio Mane made it 3-0.

Moments after Salah’s goal, however, the Belgian outfit put a very slight downer on the result by grabbing an 88th-minute consolation through Stephen Odey.

And Liverpool boss Klopp admitted afterwards that the lack of clean sheet was ‘not cool’.

He told the club’s official website: “We scored a third and fourth and then conceded one, which is not cool, but it’s not for us the biggest problem in the world.”

Still, Klopp won’t be having any sleepless nights, but every goal counts toward the Liverpool’s goal difference, which wasn’t great prior to kickoff.

The defending European champions lost 2-0 at Napoli in the first round of group games and then scraped a 4-3 win over Salzburg at Anfield earlier this month.

Despite winning this competition only a few months ago, it could be a tight squeeze into the second of 16, with Klopp’s side second behind Napoli and three points clear of Salzburg with the same goal difference – plus two.
