It’s the day of destiny for the likes of Liverpool’s, Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will find out whether he will make England’s final cut for Euro 2020 today.
The 22-year-old is set to be one of the main talking points, with Gareth Southgate set to name his final 26-man squad on Tuesday afternoon.
But before that can be announced, the mood in the England camp seemed upbeat, with Jordan Henderson posting this brilliant Twitter message about his Liverpool teammate.
Even though Henderson has been in the treatment room for most of 2021, it seems as though he will be picked by Southgate.
But will his attack-minded Liverpool teammate join him?
Southgate has four right-backs in his squad – Kyle Walker, Reece James, Kieran Trippier and Alexander-Arnold himself, and someone has to be drooped.
Walker has been deployed in a back three by the Three Lions boss before, whilst James has the boost of just winning the Champions League and Trippier recently won La Liga with Atletico Madrid.
But what shouldn’t be forgotten is the talent in TAA’s boots, and whilst he hasn’t had his best of seasons, he did end the campaign in a pretty strong fashion, including helping an injury-hit Liverpool side finish third.
Either way, if Alexander-Arnold is left out then it will cause uproar before the tournament has begun, and whilst Liverpool fans will feel sorry for their academy product, at least he will be fit, fresh and firing for next season.
