Jordan Henderson feels responsible for the goal Liverpool conceded to Arsenal.

Jordan Henderson of Liverpool celebrates after winning the Premier League match between Liverpool FC and Arsenal FC at Anfield on August 24, 2019 in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Jordan Henderson has admitted to Liverpool’s official website that he feels responsible for spoiling the clean sheet on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side looked set to claim a 3-0 win over Arsenal at Anfield yesterday evening.

But Lucas Torreira pulled one back for the visitors on 85 minutes.

The Liverpool captain was closest to Torreira when he stroked home from inside the box, but the Reds midfielder didn’t put enough pressure on him.

A number of Klopp’s players threw their arms up in frustration after Arsenal’s consolation, including Fabinho and Andy Robertson, and Henderson has admitted that it was ‘sloppy’ on his part.

He told Liverpool’s website: “It was sloppy from me, I should just clear the ball. I tried to get my toe on it. He didn’t know I was coming so I probably had a bit more time than I thought.”

A mistake from Henderson in the first half nearly led to the European champions falling a goal behind, but Nicolas Pepe couldn’t finish past Adrian.

On the whole it was a strong performance from the skipper, who kept Dani Ceballos on a tight leash throughout and didn’t let the Spaniard play his normal game.
