The Liverpool defender would be a wonderful acquisition for West Bromwich Albion this summer.
Baggies boss Tony Pulis has already lambasted the current state of the transfer market, with his side unable to compete with the Premier League big guns.
This means that he has to be smart in his player recruitment, however, and he has already completed impressive business by bringing Jay Rodriguez to the Hawthorns for around £14 million earlier this summer.
West Brom must continue to strengthen though, if they want to make genuine progress this season, and avoid stagnation, which can so easily creep in.
With this in mind, the Black Country outfit should consider a move for Reds defender Joe Gomez, whose future at Anfield is far from certain, according to ESPN.
Liverpool’s Joe Gomez in action
The 20-year-old is incredibly versatile and can play anywhere across the back-line – something that would undoubtedly appeal to Pulis.
He is incredibly quick along the ground, strong in the air and in the tackle, and always plays with 100 per cent commitment and drive.
Gomez joined Liverpool from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2015, but has struggled with serious injury problems since then. He is back to his best now though, both mentally and physically, and a move to the Hawthorns could be just what he needs to realise his true potential.
The Reds youngster would provide fantastic competition for Craig Dawson at right-back, whilst keeping Jonny Evans and Gareth McAuley on their toes in the central defensive positions.
He is still under contract with Liverpool for another five years, however, so the Baggies might have to dig deep if they are to bring him to the Hawthorns.
If they manage to do just that, however, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for West Brom.
