Wolverhampton Wanderers should attempt to sign the Liverpool youngster on loan this summer.
Liverpool ace Joe Gomez admitted that it will be hard for him to force his way into Jürgen Klopp’s side this season, what with the stringent competition for places in the right-back department at Anfield, and in light of this, Wolves should consider making a loan move for the 21-year-old.
The three-capped England international even suggested that he might have to change positions in order to receive more game-time, as quoted by the Daily Star:
“Yeah, my mindset is still probably that I will end up coming inside and being a centre-half. That’s one thing that I suppose I have had to adapt in terms of my mentality. I think I probably made the switch in my mentality last season, where I was pretty much always at right-back. But I do picture myself coming inside, and I reckon the manager does as well. When that’ll be, there’s no time on it.”
Gomez is an immensely talented young player, but he has suffered horrendous luck with injuries throughout his fledgling career thus far, and it will be vitally important for him to play regularly this season, if he is to continue his development as a player.
And Molineux could be the ideal place for him to showcase his talents this season.
Wolves are thought to be in the market for a right wing-back and a centre-half, so bringing Gomez to the club would kill two birds with one stone.
The 21-year-old is an extremely competent defender. He is strong in the air, quick along the ground, and plays with a certain kind of maturity that defies his tender years.
Gomez’s ability to play at right-back and centre-back would provide Nuno Espirito Santo with great competition for places in the defensive department at Molinuex, and he really would be an excellent signing for Wolves.
The player himself would also gain a lot from regular game-time, which will, in turn, be of huge benefit to his parent club Liverpool.
It really does seem to be the ideal outcome for all parties involved.
