Liverpool’s James Milner has posted a tongue-in-cheek message on Twitter ahead of Saturday’s derby against Everton.

Liverpool travel to the home of their Merseyside rivals in the day’s early kick-off, looking to build on Wednesday night’s impressive win against Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals.

City received a hostile welcome from Liverpool fans ahead of the game, and Milner is seemingly anticipating a similar reception for he and his teammates from Everton – albeit inside the ground this time.

“Ready for that Goodison welcome,” he posted, in what is only his 19th tweet since signing up to the social networking site.

Liverpool’s win against City came at a cost, with top scorer Mohamed Salah in need of a late fitness test, although Jordan Henderson’s ban only applies in Europe.

Adam Lallana and Emre Can are confirmed absentees, however, meaning that Milner is unlikely to be rested for Tuesday’s return leg at the Etihad Stadium – his home for five years.
