Liverpool have been linked with Clement Lenglet today.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Liverpool are rivalling Barcelona for the signing of Sevilla centre-back Clement Lenglet this summer.

The 22-year-old has a release clause of around £25.9 million and Sport goes on to claim that Lenglet will be one of the most talked-about names in this summer’s transfer window.

It’s an exciting prediction for Liverpool and even more exciting is how he could be the missing piece of Jurgen Klopp’s jigsaw on Merseyside.

The German already has plenty of centre-back options, but Virgil van Dijk is the only reliable option that Klopp has at his disposal and pairing him alongside Lenglet could go a long, long way toward seeing the Reds win the Premier League next season.

Everybody knows about their attacking qualities, with Klopp’s side netting over 120 goals in all competitions this season.

But if they were as good at the back as they are going forward then maybe Liverpool would have been more of a match for Premier League champions Manchester City – whom they eliminated from the Champions League this month – in the domestic stakes.

Their defence isn’t bad by any means, but it isn’t brilliant by the same token and yet the addition of Lenglet would strengthen them significantly.
