Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane are leading this year’s POTY race.

Liverpool ace Georginio Wijnaldum spoke exclusively to ESPN regarding this season’s Player of the Year race, and admitted that he will vote for either Tottenham’s Harry Kane or Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.

You are not allowed to vote for a player from your own club, of course, so the Dutchman’s two choices are hard to argue against.

De Bruyne has chalked up seven goals and 14 assists in 30 Premier League outings so far this season, whilst Kane has contributed with 24 goals and two assists in 29 league appearances.

Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City looks on during the Premier League match between Stoke City and Manchester City at Bet365 Stadium on March 12, 2018 in Stoke on Trent, England.

Mohamed Salah, meanwhile, has notched up an incredible 28 goals and 10 assists in 30 Premier League outings this season, so it would be no surprise to see him win this year’s POTY award.

Wijnaldum sat down for an exclusive interview with ESPN, and offered praise for all three star players:

“I haven’t voted yet but, if I had to choose, I would probably vote for De Bruyne or Kane. Mo Salah has had a wonderful year, the same with Kevin De Bruyne. Mo has scored a lot of goals, De Bruyne has scored a lot of goals and given a lot of assists. They are both very important for their team, so it’s fair enough that one of those two would win it. I think Harry Kane could win it also. He has a lot goals this season.”

There are still eight Premier League games remaining this season for most clubs, but Harry Kane’s recent injury has surely handed the impetus to both De Bruyne and Salah in this year’s race for the Premier League’s best player.

The England international can never be written off, though, as he has proven so often in the past.
