Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on the French powerhouse.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool must pay a minimum of £50 million to sign Abdoulaye Doucoure.

We know that Doucoure would favour a move to Anfield, after admitting earlier this year that it was a ‘dream’ of his to represent the Reds [Canal Plus].

But logically Tottenham is the better fit and the North Londoners must certainly target him in the January transfer window.

With Mousa Dembele seemingly unlikely to sign a new deal, the Belgian, out of contract next summer, will leave on a free transfer as things stand and Doucoure would be an ideal replacement.

The truth is that although the Frenchman might prefer a move to Liverpool, they don’t need him.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has an abundance of excellent central midfielders, and the £39 million addition of Fabinho a few months means that the German will hardly spend up to £50 million on another one so soon.

If the Lilywhites and Liverpool are genuinely interested, North London makes a lot more sense than Merseyside.
