Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino faces a busy summer head of him, as he looks to bring some genuine quality into the club, and in turn, make a sustained challenge for major honours on all fronts.
Tottenham already have an incredibly strong starting XI, so any potential signings must be of absolute top-class quality, if they are to make any real kind of difference to their hopes of success.
One area which may prove to be a weak-link for he Lilywhites throughout the course of a long and arduous campaign is central midfield, what with Mousa Dembele’s less-than-impressive injury record, and Harry Winks not quite yet at the required level ether physically or mentally to be considered as a viable replacement for the Belgian.

The former Fulham man turns 30 before the start of next season, so a long-term replacement for him will surely feature highly on Pochettino’s agenda. The problem is that Dembele’s talent and skill means that in order to find someone of similar quality, Spurs will have to spend a rather substantial amount of money.
With this in mind, Tottenham should consider making a move for Liverpool’s Emre Can, who has just one year remaining on his contract at Anfield. This means that the north London outfit could secure themselves a bargain, if the Germany international fails to agree terms on a new deal on Merseyside.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man has all the attributes required to provide stiff competition for Dembele next season, and has the potential to eventually take over from the powerful Belgian at the heart of Spurs’ midfield.
His ball retention is second-to-none, and his ability to travel from deep when in possession of the football, and help move his team up the pitch is something that will surely have caught Pochettino’s eye.
The German is also wonderfully gifted from a technical aspect, and showcased his supreme talent with his wonder goal against Watford last month.
Whilst Jürgen Klopp will surely not want to lose the 23-year-old this summer, if the club and player fail to reach an agreement on a new deal, the Reds will surely have to sell him during the off-season rather than lose him for nothing next year.
And Tottenham should not hesitate to bing Can to north London.
