It’s been a great weekend for Liverpool fans following their last-ditch win in Sunday’s Merseyside derby.
The 1-0 win against Everton, sealed by Divock Origi’s header just after a Jordan Pickford blunder, keeps the Reds breathing down Manchester City’s neck at the top of the Premier League table.
However, while Liverpool are flying high domestically, their hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League remain precariously poised following their 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain last time out.
Jurgen Klopp’s charges host Group C leaders Napoli on Tuesday 11 December, while PSG travel to Red Star Belgrade on the same night – and all teams can still qualify for the next round.
According to UEFA, the Serie A side will be through if they draw, or if they lose and PSG are also beaten, while the Ligue 1 giants will be through if they win, or if Liverpool do not win.
Fine margins indeed, which is why the latest update coming from the Parc des Princes could perhaps hamper PSG and give them less chance of winning at the cauldron that is the Rajko Mitic Stadium.

Brazilian superstar Neymar pulled up during Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Bordeaux with apparent groin trouble and had to go off after 57 minutes, heading straight down the tunnel to receive treatment.
PSG boss Thomas Tuchel told ESPN after the game that Neymar looked to have suffered a reoccurrance of an adductor injury picked up on Brazil duty which he thought would have healed.
Although the German thinks the Selecao star could be back in time for the Ligue 1 fixture against Montpellier on 8 December, there is every chance that further developments mean he may not feature in the Champions League – potentially handing Liverpool a slight advantage.
