Sunderland have been linked with a move for Liverpool’s Kevin Stewart this summer.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, back in May, Sunderland were said to be interested in signing Kevin Stewart from Liverpool.

David Moyes, who was then in charge at Sunderland, was believed to have put Stewart to the top of his wishlist.

However, Liverpool’s £10 million asking price for the midfielder, as reported by the Telegraph, was proving difficult for Sunderland to meet.

Two months on, and the Independent now claim that Liverpool have halved their asking price for Stewart.

The Reds are thought to want just £5 million for the youngster – yet Sunderland’s interest has gone quiet.

The Black Cats seem to have formed other targets, yet Simon Grayson would be wise to reignite the Black Cats’ interest in Stewart.

Now could be the opportune time for Sunderland to strike for Stewart, with Liverpool seemingly coming close to signing Naby Keita from Red Bull Leipzig to strengthen their midfield options even further, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Stewart appears to be a long way from Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans, and he needs to leave Anfield for the good of his own career.

With Liverpool’s asking price already having halved in a matter of months, Klopp appears to be open to selling the former Spurs man, and Sunderland would be wise to start negotiations for the England youth international again.
