Liverpool spent big bucks on signing Alisson last summer and what a good investment it looks.
Andy Robertson has told Liverpool’s official website that it’s an ‘absolute joke’ how well Alisson played in Saturday’s Champions League final win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Liverpool picked up a sixth European Cup title by beating Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid.
Mo Salah and Divock Origi scored at the start and the end of the game, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side fashioning out of a number of good goalscoring chances in between both goals, especially in the second half.
But the Brazilian keeper made a series of stunning saves, including from Harry Kane late on, as the Reds held on to win their first trophy under Jurgen Klopp.
It was a fantastic first season for Alisson on Merseyside, and his heroics in Madrid didn’t go unnoticed by his Scottish team-mate.
Robertson told Liverpool’s official website: “A lot was said about Ali when he first came, a lot of pressure on him. My God, he’s been unbelievable this season.
“[Against Spurs], it was an absolute joke the way he made the saves and everything. He was different class. It’s down to him that we kept a clean sheet.”
Klopp spent over £50 million on bringing the former Roma stopper to Anfield, but what a good investment it’s been. He was the difference between success and failure for the Reds this past season and, having ended their trophy drought under the German, there is an expectation that Saturday’s win could open the floodgates.
