Adam Lallana saved Liverpool’s unbeaten start to the season with a late goal to draw the game against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Reds didn’t quite look like themselves on Sunday and went behind nine minutes before the break thanks to a goal from Marcus Rashford. However, Jurgen Klopp’s men stuck together and substitute Adam Lallana levelled the game in the 85th minute for both teams to share the spoils.
The draw meant that Liverpool’s lead at the top is down to six points after Manchester City brushed aside Crystal Palace 2-0. Klopp will be hoping that his side’s performance will improve in the coming weeks and Lallana’s late goal could well prove to be a wake-up call.
Speaking about the former Southampton man’s impact, Robertson acknowledged Lallana’s injuries over the last two years but claimed that he changed the game for Liverpool on Sunday.
He said: “Adam is a top, top professional and a top, top guy. I’m absolutely delighted for him that he could get on the end of it.
“When he came on I thought he was brilliant and I thought he changed the game. To get that goal, it will do a world of good for him and his confidence and I think we’ll see a lot more from him.”
Lallana has played 114 times for Liverpool since Klopp took charge of the club. The Englishman turned 31 at the end of last season and is into the final few months of his current deal at Anfield.
With a lot of the season yet to be played, the former Saints midfielder will be looking for more chances and if he can perform as he did in his cameo against Manchester United, Liverpool’s chances of lifting their first league title in 30 years will increase considerably.
