Liverpool winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain expressed his delight on Instagram after his lengthy England comeback over the weekend, as he praised Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount as a player for the future.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who made an international return after 18 months, came off the bench as England recorded a 4-0 win over Bulgaria on Saturday afternoon.

It was a comfortable win for Gareth Southgate’s side, with striker Harry Kane leading by example and netting a hat-trick for his country.

But it was a special moment for Oxlade-Chamberlain, who went through some difficult times last season, as he was pleased to be back on the international stage.

Here is the message Oxlade-Chamberlain sent on his personal Instagram account, with Mount and others responding:

A lot is going to be expected of Mount in these coming months, as he came off the bench during England’s win over the weekend, as the Chelsea man has started the season in a strong fashion.

There has been a lot of talk about the lack of creativity in the middle of the park for England and Oxlade-Chamberlain, who joined Liverpool from Arsenal for £35 million in 2017 [BBC Sport], will be one of those players who will be looking to provide that something different from the midfield.

Nonetheless, on Tuesday night, England will take on Kosovo at St Mary’s – the home stadium of Southampton and the club where it all started for Oxlade-Chamberlain.
