Liverpool lost 2-1 to Manchester United on Sunday but how did the Reds’ Spanish wing-back fair?
Liverpool had a match to forget on Sunday, when a brace from Juan Mata, a red card for Steven Gerrard and some hugely disappointing performances saw Manchester United run out 2-1 winners.
One Liverpool player who was particularly bad on the day was Spanish defender Alberto Moreno.
The 22-year-old left-back’s positional play was partly at fault for both Mata’s goals while his all-round defensive contribution was hardly something to write home about…unless you are a United fan.
Moreno had a passing accuracy of just 72 per cent – although that was considerably better than the first half alone when he was successful with just 50 per cent of his passes.

But while that was disappointing, the Liverpool player’s other defensive statistics were simply awful.
Moreno failed to win a single tackle, aerial duel or interception all afternoon, while he did not make a single outfield block or effective clearance.
He also failed to go on a single dribble, despite his role as a wing-back.
In short, Moreno had a match to forget and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers plays him after the international break or opts for a change of personnel.
