Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has raved about Liverpool-owned winger Harvey Elliott on the club’s official Twitter page.

Mowbray was impressed by the display produced by Elliott during Blackburn’s 4-0 win against Coventry City away from home in the Championship at the weekend.

The 17-year-old winger, signed on loan from defending Premier League champions Liverpool in the summer transfer window, scored one of the goals and provided an assist for Rovers on Saturday.

According to WhoScored, Elliott took two shots, played six key passes, had a pass accuracy of 85.1%, won two headers, took 66 touches, and put in one cross.

The youngster has scored one goal and provided one assist in two Championship games for Blackburn since his loan move from Liverpool, according to WhoScored.

Mowbray has spoken highly of the former Fulham youngster and is pleased to have him in his squad.

The Blackburn manager told the club’s official Twitter page about Elliott: “He’s a wonderful personality for such a young boy really. You feel like a young boy when you’re talking to him to be fair.

“But he’s a diamond of a football player. I can see why he made his league debut at 15, if that was the case at Fulham.

“Just to have somebody who’s so tight with the ball, so aware of space, of runners. He sees all the pictures really.”

Progressing at Blackburn Rovers

Elliott is only 17 years of age, and it was going to be tough for him to play regular first-team football at Liverpool this season given the quality of attacking players they have.

Blackburn are an ambitious club and are aiming to clinch promotion to the Premier League, which means that the winger will play in a competitive environment and will be under pressure to win games.

The loan spell at Rovers is only going to make Elliott a better and more mature footballer, and given the impressive start he has made, he could prove to be a big player for the Championship club this season.
