Paul Merson has said on Sky Sports News (12:30pm, April 2, 2022) that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would not have paid £100 million for Jack Grealish like Manchester City did.
Manchester City signed attacking midfielder Grealish from Premier League rivals Aston Villa in the summer of 2021.
As reported by The Guardian, the defending Premier League champions paid as much as £100 million for the England international.
While discussing Bruno Fernandes signing a new contract with Manchester United recently, former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit Merson said that Klopp would not have paid £100 million for Grealish.
Merson said on Sky Sports News (12:30pm, April 2, 2022): “Jack Grealish is a great player, but would Jurgen Klopp have paid £100 million for Jack Grealish? No, of course, he would not.”

In our opinion, Merson is right about Liverpool manager Klopp and Grealish.
We do not think that Liverpool would have paid £100 million for the Englishman.
Klopp would not have asked FSG to do so.
Now, Grealish is a good player, but he is not that good.
Not really.
Yes, City paid £100 million for him, but no other club would.
Liverpool have some brilliant midfielders, and Grealish would have struggled to get into the team.
Just like he is struggling to play regularly for Manchester City.
The 26-year-old has made 18 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Pep Guardiola’s side so far this season.
Grealish has scored two goals and given two assists in those matches.
