Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri has suggested that he could leave the club in the summer transfer window, as quoted in The Sun.

Shaqiri has said that he is not happy at his current situation and wants to play more games.

The 27-year-old Switzerland international winger made 11 starts and 13 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool last season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

The former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan winger – who joined the Reds from Stoke City in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £13 million – played just 176 minutes in the Champions League for the Merseyside outfit last season, according to WhoScored.

‘Disappointed’

The Sun quotes Shaqiri as saying: “I am disappointed that I am no longer getting to play in matches. No player is happy to sit on the bench.

“It is clear that I would like to have more playing time. I need to take a good look at the situation and find a solution.”

Leaving Liverpool

Shaqiri is a very good winger, but the Switzerland international was signed by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in the summer of 2018 to give him more options on the substitutes’ bench.

Given the quality of players in the Reds’ attacking unit, it is going to be hard for the 27-year-old to play week in and week out, and if he wants regular playing time, then he will have to leave Anfield this summer.
