Tottenham midfielder expressed devastation at England defeat.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has said he is ‘devastated’ after England’s World Cup semi-final elimination.
England were beaten 2-1 by Croatia after extra time and missed out on a final clash against France.
Dele Alli played the entire game, although failed to have the impact he would have wanted.
He was congratulated on Instagram by Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo, currently starring for the Reds in pre-season.
Ojo said: “Well done bro.. next World Cup is the time for us.”
Ojo has played for England at every level from under-16 to under-21 and will have his ambitions set on World Cup 2022.
Last season he helped Fulham win promotion, but faces a challenge to get into Liverpool’s starting XI.
Alli said he will take ‘a while’ to get over England’s defeat although he does not have much time until the Premier League season kicks off.
Tottenham travel to Newcastle on August 11, less than a month’s time, before fixtures against Fulham and Manchester United.
