Wayne Rooney has lauded Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal for the ‘really good signings’ they have made this summer as he backed them to push for the Premier League title again alongside the likes of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
The Premier League legend warned that ‘Liverpool will be better’, alongside Chelsea, who finished in the bottom half last term and now have Mauricio Pochettino in charge.
Manchester City will be the obvious favourites to go again, with Pep Guardiola’s side hoping to become the first English side in history to win four-in-a-row, but Wayne Rooney is expecting the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool to be behind them, as he told his MLS All-Star press conference.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are the proven ones, in terms of being the last team to stop the all-dominant Manchester City from winning the title.
Whilst those at the Emirates came pretty close last season and they are hoping that the likes of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber can push them over the line ahead of the new campaign.
Nonetheless, this is the transfer claim Rooney made about Arsenal, as he also shared his thoughts on the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

“I thought they had a fantastic season last year and I thought it was a huge step for Arsenal,” said Rooney.
“I think the signings that they have made are really good signings to try and kick on by challenging Manchester City because they will be the favourites again to win the Premier League.
“I think Liverpool will be better next season. Chelsea will be better. Hopefully, Manchester United will be better as well.
“But I think Arsenal have made some really good signings and I think they will compete again.”

Who will finish higher – Arsenal or Liverpool?
Many were left surprised by Liverpool’s drop-off last season, but they have dipped into the transfer market this summer and they are refreshing their squad.
The interesting thing here is that the Reds are in the Europa League, so they don’t have to go strong during their midweek games, but Arsenal do.
It’s a return to the Champions League for them and they need to learn quickly to balance the two out, as Liverpool will be hoping they can get back to their best to try and dethrone Guardiola’s side at the top.
