Liverpool could call on youngster Bobby Clark to face Manchester City but just who is the Reds teenager?
Those who aren’t of a Liverpool persuasion may be wondering that if they see Clark featuring at the Etihad Stadium against City.
The EFL Cup has taken centre stage for English clubs this week, just days after the end of the World Cup in Qatar.
Some Liverpool players are either unavailable as a result, or may not quite be ready to feature against City tonight.
That means Jurgen Klopp may need to call upon his young players even if only from the bench and Clark looks to be a prime candidate.
So just who is Bobby Clark? Let’s take a closer look…
WHO IS BOBBY CLARK?
Clark, 17, was born in Epsom back in 2005, when his father Lee was playing for Fulham.
Lee may be a notable name to some, having turned out for Newcastle United and Sunderland in the Premier League.
Clark junior started his career at Birmingham City in 2014, spending two years there as his father Lee was in charge at St Andrews.
The midfielder headed to Newcastle United though, following in the footsteps of his Wallsend-born father in joining the Magpies ranks.
Whilst Clark was highly rated in the Newcastle setup, he chose to leave for Liverpool in 2021.
The Reds are understood to have paid around £1.5million to sign Clark, which is a decent price for a developmental prospect.
Clark has played 25 times for Liverpool’s Under-18’s, racking up 13 goals and five assists.
Clark already has two first-team appearances for Liverpool and has recorded one goal and two assists in 11 Under-21 games.
The teenager looks set for a huge future and an appearance against City tonight could be important for his development with Liverpool.
