Peter Crouch has revealed on his podcast that he told Marko Arnautovic to sign for Liverpool.
Arnautovic and Crouch played together at Stoke City, and the BBC pundit had only positive words for the forward, who was once a target at Anfield.
Liverpool apparently wanted the Austrian when he was at his very best.
And Crouch, who also spent a portion of his career with the Reds, said that Arnautovic should have moved to Anfield rather than China.
“Liverpool were interested in him at one stage and I said to him, if you go anywhere go to a top club like that,” Crouch said.
“It’s a shame really, he’s in China and he’s there for whatever reason.”
Arnautovic was a real threat at Premier League level at one stage of his career.
The forward spent four years at Stoke before joining West Ham for two, and it is understandable why Liverpool were keen.
Arnautovic is now playing for Shanghai and is on a £200,000-a-week deal (Daily Mirror).
The forward has actually been linked with a move back to the Premier League this summer, but at the age of 31, his chances of moving to Liverpool have now surely gone.
