Liverpool looking at Paredes: Loved playing with Salah

Liverpool are reportedly looking at a late move to sign PSG midfielder Leandro Paredes as doubts continue to grow regarding the status of Naby Keita – a player that has underlined just how much he loved playing with Mo Salah.

Keita is in the final year of his contract at Liverpool – with interest from Borussia Dortmund. On Monday night, Jurgen Klopp said he was injured, stating that he “fell” and due to that, was missing from the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

Liverpool were forced to play with a makeshift midfield of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Harvey Elliott. Fabinho could only come off the bench, while Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and Keita were all injured.

Little surprise, then, that Liverpool have thrown their hat into the ring for a midfielder. Reports claim that the Reds are considering PSG’s Paredes, despite an offer from Juventus. Paredes, 28, played alongside Salah for Serie A side Roma.

Speaking in 2017 during his time at Roma with Salah, 44-time Argentina international Paredes said he loved playing with the Egyptian. He even suggested that he passes the ball more to Salah, simply because of his quality.

“He’s a lovely guy, very laid back. He’s very quiet – he speaks less than me. As a player, we all know how important he is for us and we need to make the most of him,” Paredes said five years ago, as quoted by KingFut.

“He’s possibly the player I look to find more than any other. Because he’s always looking to get in behind the defenders. It means I can play it to him first time. I pass to him a lot,” Paredes continued, on Salah.
