Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are interested in signing Ousmane Dembele, but they are facing competition from Chelsea and Manchester City for the Barcelona forward, according to TEAMtalk.
What’s the story?
TEAMtalk have reported today that Liverpool are lining up an offer to sign Dembele on a free transfer next summer.
The France international forward is out of contract at Barcelona at the end of the season.
Chelsea and City have already been in touch with the representatives of the 24-year-old.
Juventus and Bayern Munich are also keen on the former Borussia Dortmund star, who cost Barcelona an initial transfer fee of £96.8 million in the summer of 2017, as reported by BBC Sport at the time.
Mistake from Liverpool?
There is no doubt that Dembele is talented.
And he is 24.
Dembele will not be at his peak for a few years.
GiveMeSport quoted former Barcelona forward Lionel Messi as saying about Dembele in March 2020: “His pace is frightening in training.”

We can understand why it must be so tempting for clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea to sign the Frenchman on a free transfer next summer.
However, the 24-year-old’s wages will be high.
TEAMtalk claim that Dembele earns £200,000 per week as salary at Barcelona.
Dembele is unlikely to take a huge pay-cut to join Liverpool.
Then there is the matter of the Frenchman having a lot of injury problems.
It would be a massive risk for Liverpool to sign Dembele.
We think that Liverpool should stay away.
