Jamie Redknapp has criticised Tottenham Hotspur central defender Cristian Romero for one of the goals that his side conceded against Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder has described Romero’s defending as “diabolical” on Sky Sports Premier League (5:24pm, April 30, 2023).
Redknapp made the comments about the 25-year-old Argentina international centre-back during the half-time break.
In the first half, Romero made a bad and needless challenge on Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo just inside the Tottenham penalty box.
It was a clear penalty.
And Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah made no mistake from the spot.

Redknapp said about Romero: “I have seen some of his defending in the last four, five games. Diabolical. Not making right decisions.”
HITC Verdict: Improvement needed
In our view, Cristian Romero needs to do better and has to step up his game for Tottenham Hotspur.
The Argentina international has not been at his best since winning the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
The 25-year-old has to get back on form and must start making the right decisions.
We know that Romero is a very good defender who is aggressive but knows to make the right decisions.
Things are not clicking for him at the moment, and Tottenham are conceding too many goals.
