Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have been credited with an interest in Amadou Diawara.

If Tottenham Hotspur really want Amadou Diawara, then the chances of success might have increased a little today if rumours are to be believed.

Corrierre Dello Sport reported two weeks ago that Tottenham remain keen on the Napoli midfielder who, according to The Sun, could leave Italy for around £33 million.

The 20-year-old’s stock is steadily rising – especially after his goal this past weekend – and Liverpool were rumoured to have joined the race for his signature.

But according to Rai Sport, Liverpool will not be competing for Diawara and that can only be a good thing for Tottenham.

The Reds are in the semi-finals of the Champions League and although the prospect of working under Mauricio Pochettino is exciting, so is the prospect of moving to Anfield and playing under Jurgen Klopp at the moment.

That isn’t to say that Liverpool are a more attractive proposition than Spurs, but their interest would have complicated the North Londoners’ interest and the less clubs that big want him, the better it is for Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy.
