Liverpool Under-19’s continued their excellent form int he UEFA Youth League with a win against Rangers at home; their third win from three group games – and here are our player ratings from the comfortable 4-1 win:

Harvey Davies – 6

Incredibly quiet day for the England youth international. Good with his feet when used, made a solid stop to deny Lovelace from a McCausland cross. Should have done better for Rangers’ consolation, missing his punch.

Isaac Mebaya – 7 (replaced by McLaughlin-Miles, 71 mins)

Powerful as ever on the right and did a good job of keeping the highly-rated Zak Lovelace quiet. Gorgeous first touch early in the second 45 to bring the ball down. Worked hard and continued his good form, after impressing vs Ajax.

Jarrell Quansah – 10

Calmness and quality combined. 19-year-old a class above at the back for Liverpool, dealing with numerous situations with consummate ease. Towered above Rangers to head in Liverpool’s third from a corner. Assist for Liverpool’s first.

Lee Jonas – 7

Somewhat overshadowed by his centre-back partner’s performance but solid again from Jones. He kept the powerful Ure quiet, alongside Quansah. Comfortable in possession if a little safe, unlucky not to get a clean sheet. Consistent.

Luke Chambers – 8

Some lovely passing down the left as Liverpool tried to get into the box without crossing the ball. Hardly tested in defence, though Ross McCausland was probably Rangers’ best player. Lovely finish for Liverpool’s fourth goal.

Dom Corness – 8

Another solid display from Liverpool’s holding midfielder. Calm in possession, took up some good areas and kept things simple. Starting to have the knack of being in the right place. Rarely gave the ball away, assist for third goal.

Ben Doak – 8

As a Celtic academy product coming up against his old’s side bitter rivals, you might have forgiven him for being slightly overzealous – but that is just the way he plays. Coolly doubled Liverpool’s lead, finishing well first time.

Melkamu Frauendorf – 4 (replaced by Kone-Doherty, 85 mins)

Signed from Hoffenheim at just 16 years of age, he is yet to show Liverpool fans why there was plenty of early hype. Whenever he got a chance, he fluffed his lines. Missed a golden chance on 37 minutes, and then on 81 minutes.

James McConnell – 7

Involved regularly, but his decision making was perhaps the question mark behind his attacking display. On numerous occasions, he tried to shoot – perhaps trying too hard. But his recycling of the ball was good. Decent outing in midfield.

Bobby Clark – 9

When Clark got the ball, something looked as though it was going to happen. Gorgeous touches, centre of gravity and poise in and around the penalty area. Creativity in abundance. Deserved to score, but his display will not go unnoticed.

Oakley Cannonier – 9

This boy is lethal, at this level. Coming into the game with four goals in his first two Youth League games, after a hat-trick against Ajax last time out, he showed predatory instinct to nod home Liverpool’s first. He looks like a real talent.
