It’s been a pretty good Saturday for Liverpool as they returned to the top of the Premier League table, recorded a three-goal victory complete with clean sheet, and also saw the return of one of their fan favourites.

The Reds were knocked off the summit by Manchester City on Wednesday as Pep Guardiola’s charges ran out 2-0 winners at Everton, but a 3-0 rout of Bournemouth put Jurgen Klopp’s side back in first place.

After a nervy opening at Anfield, Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser drawing a save from Alisson Becker after just two minutes, Sadio Mane put the home fans at ease on 24 minutes by heading home from James Milner’s cross.

Just 10 minutes later, Liverpool struck again as Georginio Wijnaldum, who had been suffering from illness prior to the game, emphatically lobbed Cherries stopper Artur Boruc for a healthy advantage at the break.

The third goal came not long after the restart when great link-up play by Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino saw the ball played to Mohamed Salah, who duly slotted home from 10 yards, and Liverpool had no trouble in seeing the rest of the game out.

On 77 minutes, Trent Alexander-Arnold returned from his knee injury suffered at Brighton last month to take the place of Georginio Wijnaldum, and after the game he took to Twitter and posted a message:
