Trent Alexander-Arnold claims he is not ‘massively close’ with Marcus Rashford ahead of Liverpool against Manchester United.
Alexander-Arnold has been speaking to The Telegraph ahead of today’s game at Anfield.
Of course, the subject turned to Rashford given that the Manchester United star is in blistering form.
Rashford has racked up 17 goals and four assists in his last 20 appearances in all competitions.
That’s an absolutely ridiculous record and Rashford has been almost unstoppable since the World Cup.
If Rashford plays down the left flank for United today, he will be coming up against Liverpool right back Alexander-Arnold.
The pair have had plenty of battles over the years but many will remember Rashford terrorising Alexander-Arnold in 2018.
The Liverpool ace has maybe come out on top in recent meetings but this promises to be a great battle.
Rashford and Alexander-Arnold are England international teammates but it seems they aren’t that close off the pitch.
Alexander-Arnold claims they aren’t ‘massively close’ outside of England duty and there is ‘nothing special’ about his relationship with the United ace.
Alexander-Arnold notes that there is banter with Rashford as there is with anybody else but they aren’t particularly close even if ‘everything is cool’ between them.

Rashford then received praise from Alexander-Arnold, who talked up the United star’s ‘very good’ form.
Alexander-Arnold thinks Rashford has always been a huge threat even if his form has somewhat tailed off in recent seasons.
The Liverpool defender is clearly expecting a real battle with Rashford today with both players absolutely vital to their team’s hopes of claiming a win.
“We’re not massively close, to be honest, especially outside of England,” says Alexander-Arnold. “At England camps everything is cool. We’ll speak. We’ll have good banter just like every player. Nothing special. He is in very good form. But he is one of those players where he is always a threat and always has been. Players get judged on their stats. For strikers it is all about if you are scoring, or assisting. But even last year you knew when against him he was a massive threat. It was all there.”
“Maybe that is something those watching do not really see, but as a player out there you feel it. It wouldn’t matter whether I was up against him and he has scored ten games in a row, or if he has only scored ten over two seasons, you feel that threat out there and know you have to be at the top of your game to deal with it. He is one of those players who has that,” he added.
