Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has highlighted the sudden turnaround of Arsenal as proof of how things can change in football.
The Reds are back in Premier League action this afternoon with Manchester United making the trip to Anfield.
Liverpool’s top four hopes remarkably aren’t over just yet as Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur keep slipping up.
A win over United today would be massive but Liverpool have found it difficult to string together consistent results.
United on the other hand have been fairly steady; eight wins, two draws and two defeats in their last 12 league games.
United sit comfortably in third place whilst Liverpool battle to find consistency.
Few could have predicted this situation in pre-season and Trent Alexander-Arnold has highlighted how quickly football can change.

Trent Alexander-Arnold comments on Arsenal turnaround
Liverpool ace Alexander-Arnold noted that United struggled earlier this season and many would have expected another disappointing season after losing 4-0 at Brentford.
However, Erik ten Hag has found his feet in the Premier League and Alexander-Arnold told The Telegraph they are now ‘flying’ on all fronts.
Alexander-Arnold also struck a comparison towards Premier League leaders Arsenal.
The Liverpool defender remembers how people were talking about Arsenal’s ‘failure’ after missing out on the top four last season.
The Gunners are now faring even better this season and sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Alexander-Arnold has clearly been impressed with both Arsenal and United this season as they push towards former glories.
Liverpool don’t need such a dramatic turnaround right now but they still need to string results together – just as Arsenal and United have been doing this season.
“It shows you how football changes very quickly,” said Alexander-Arnold. “Look at Arsenal. At the end of last season everyone was talking about failure for not making the top four. All of a sudden they are leading in the title race. In football terms, these changes really do happen overnight.”
“It’s the same with Manchester United when you look at the difference now to last year. Even the start of this season when they lost to Brentford. How many people were saying ‘here we go again?’ Now they’re flying. It happens. That is why I am not going to allow myself to get over consumed with what has happened to us right now because I know in a few months, or possibly even weeks, it will change. I am determined to keep level-headed and balanced about what has gone on,” he added.
