A round-up of the latest transfer news surrounding Liverpool.
Liverpool may have abandoned their pursuit of Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk earlier this summer, but the speculation over his future and a possible move to Anfield continues.
The Reds were accused of tapping up Van Dijk in an illegal approach for the Dutch international centre back, and having apologised, they seemingly ended their chase of the ex-Celtic star.

However, the Liverpool Echo report that £60million-rated Van Dijk is holding showdown talks with Southampton about his future, having told new Saints manager Mauricio Pellegrino that he wanted to join the Reds last week.
Southampton still hope to keep hold of Van Dijk after next month’s transfer deadline, but with the defender eager to move to Liverpool, the Reds will be tracking Van Dijk’s showdown talks intently.
Elsewhere, the Daily Mail report that Liverpool striker Danny Ings is believed to be a target for Newcastle, with the Magpies having allegedly submitted an enquiry to sign the forward on loan.
Ings, 25, was a smart signing for Liverpool back in the summer of 2015 after hitting 11 Premier League goals for Burnley, but he has since suffered two huge knee injuries, meaning he has played just 11 games for the Reds.

Newcastle are now keen to offer Ings first-team football, and with the likes of Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge and new signing Dominic Solanke all ahead of him in the pecking order, a move could suit all parties.
Finally, striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been loaned out to Belgian side Royal Excel Mouscron for the season, whilst fans will be pleased with little update on Barcelona’s pursuit of star playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
