A round-up of the latest transfer news surrounding Liverpool.
With a winger snapped up last week in Mohamed Salah, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp may now focus on improving other areas of his team, with midfield one possible area for him to focus on.
Jordan Henderson’s injury over the final three months of the season left Liverpool a little short in midfield, whilst Lucas Leiva’s future with the club remains up in the air, meaning competition may be needed for the likes of Emre Can, Adam Lallana and Georgino Wijnaldum.
FC Porto’s Ruben Neves during training
Now, Portuguese newspaper A Bola report that Liverpool are one of the leading contenders to sign Porto midfielder Ruben Neves, alongside the likes of Chelsea and Juventus.
Neves, 20, has come up through the ranks with Porto having joined in 2005, and he has now racked up nearly 100 appearances for their first team, becoming one of the most talented young Portuguese players around.
Primarily a holding midfielder with outstanding technical ability, Neves looks to have a huge future ahead of him, and with Liverpool allegedly challenging for his signature, he could be calling Anfield his new home in the near future.
Elsewhere, two Liverpool talents are being linked with Premier League loan moves, as they look to play first-team football elsewhere and gain valuable experience to boost their Liverpool careers.
Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo (R) in action with Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta
The Mirror report that 20-year-old defender Joe Gomez is set for a loan move to Brighton and Hove Albion, having played just three games for the Reds since a devastating knee injury in October 2015.
Meanwhile, The Independent report that Newcastle United are leading the race to take winger Sheyi Ojo on loan, with Liverpool no doubt keen to get the speedy wide man playing games after a frustrating season.
