Napoli are reportedly working on increasing Kim Min-jae’s release clause amid a potential bid from Manchester United as well as interest from Liverpool.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Serie A leaders are working frantically to hike up the South Korean international’s exit clause that could see Kim leave Napoli for as little as €48m (£42m), with Aurelio De Laurentiis keen to increase this to as much as €65m (£57m).
As per the report, Erik Ten Hag’s United could soon make a bid for Kim before Napoli have a chance to increase the defender’s release clause, with Il Mattino reporting that Liverpool also chasing the former Fenerbahce centre-back, who has been nothing short of exceptional this season.
Napoli only signed Kim from Turkey last summer, and the 26-year-old has been one of the club’s best players as well as one of the top defenders in all of Europe, with the Asian superstar playing a huge role in Luciano Spalletti’s side sitting at the summit of the Serie A table and their impressive UEFA Champions League run.

Indeed, with such impressive performances comes obvious transfer interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, and for Napoli, the Neapolitan side are working hard to increase Kim’s release clause to a figure that could justify the South Korean’s departure in the summer.
With both Liverpool and United keen to add to their defence in the transfer window, Kim would be an outstanding addition for either Premier League side, and the Red Devils looking to make a bid before Napoli can increase the centre-back’s release clause would be a smart move from Ten Hag.
Napoli could run out of time to increase Kim’s release clause

Kim has been a revelation for Napoli this season, and it only makes sense that the defender is wanted by one of the biggest clubs in the world in United. And for the Italian side, they could easily run out of time to increase their star man’s release clause.
As we know, United will soon have the financial backing of a new owner to spend money on whoever they see fit, and Kim could become the Red Devils’ first major signing if Liverpool themselves also don’t come in with a bid of their own for Kim.
