Liverpool are reportedly set to reward Stefan Bajcetic with a new long-term contract after a string of impressive performances, with Jurgen Klopp keen to sign the midfielder’s future down at Anfield.

According to the Daily Mail, the Merseyside club are working behind the clubs to hand the Spanish wonderkid a new deal, with Bajcetic recently breaking into the Liverpool first-team and making a good account of himself against the likes of Wolves and more recently Chelsea.

A Spanish youth international, Bajcetic has already made ten appearances in all competitions for Liverpool with the 18-year-old even scoring in only his second Premier League cap against Aston Villa, with the Vigo-born talent seemingly the next academy graduate ready to take the first-team by storm.

Hailed as ‘outstanding’ by Jamie Carragher, Bajcetic has been a major boost to Liverpool’s current midfield problems with the likes of Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho wildly out of form, with Jordan Henderson also not fully fit since returning from the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Indeed, Liverpool are on a good run of academy players breaking into the first-team and making a name for themselves, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones the obvious picks. And for Bajcetic, the teenager could be next to become a regular for Klopp.

Supporters already love the midfielder’s style of play and how easily Bajcetic controls the tempo of the match, and signing a new contract with Liverpool will be as big a morale boost to fans as any major transfer in the market this January.

Bajcetic has already established himself as one of the most exciting young players in the Premier League after making a spot in Liverpool’s midfield three his own, and the Spaniard signing a new contract will be huge for the Anfield side going into the future.

Whilst midfield needs strengthening in the summer, Bajcetic’s breakout year makes Klopp and the transfer team’s job that little bit easier given just how promising the teenager is, with one signing instead of two likely what Liverpool can now do in the off-season.
