A select round-up of the latest transfer news relating to Liverpool…
Liverpool beat Everton 1-0 on Monday evening with an injury-time winner from Sadio Mane, with the late win boosting Jurgen Klopp’s title challenge.
Even after Monday’s win in the Merseyside derby, manager Klopp may be looking for January reinforcements – and one Brazilian ace is being linked with the club.
Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri
ESPN reported earlier this week that Liverpool are keen on Sao Paulo midfielder Thiago Maia, but face competition from Monaco, Napoli, Schalke and Zenit St. Petersburg.
Maia, 19, has already racked up almost 100 appearances or Sao Paulo, and the athletic midfielder is being lined up for a move to Europe having featured for Brazil at the Olympic Games over the summer – but Zenit are believed to have had a £15m bid rejected already.

Whilst one Brazilian could be heading to Anfield in Maia, one could be leaving the club, with Italian newspaper Tuttosport reporting that Inter Milan are looking to sign Lucas Leiva.
It’s claimed that, with Marseille interested in signing John Obi Mikel and Mathieu Flamini, Inter are hoping to raid them for Lassana Diarra – but Liverpool veteran Lucas, 29, is an alternative for the Serie A side.
Finally, Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri has told Spox that Bayern Munich stopped him from joining Liverpool in the summer of 2014, even revealing that Brendan Rodgers contacted him after the World Cup in Brazil in a bid to strike a deal.
The Swiss international claimed that Atletico Madrid also wanted to sign him, but Bayern stood in his may – just months before he made a move to Italy with Inter Milan.
“I wanted to leave in summer by all means and had offers from Liverpool and Atletico,” said Shaqiri. “Brendan Rodgers called me several times before the World Cup. But Bayern forbid me to leave,” he added.
